The Interoperability Test Tool (ITT) is a software and hardware test environment provided by TRIALOG. ITT facilitates the testing of appliances, controllers, and gateways to verify their communication over a network. It reduces the cost for testing the performance of appliances, controllers, and gateways to verify their conformance to communication protocols.
In order for devices produced by different manufacturers to interact, they must follow communication standards which are agreed upon by all participating companies. ITT performs tests for several purposes:
- interoperability between appliances
- conformance to a communication standard
- proprietary functions of an appliance.
ITT is a generic tool that can be used to test any communication of protocol. Currently test suites exist for several power-line communication protocols, but ITT can be adapted to other protocols and media. It is also able to perform system tests, i.e. evaluate the performance of several devices communicating on the same network. See the details of ITT's functions.
